Welcome back!
It is flu shot time once again. Because the flu season usually runs from early October until the end of May, seniors need to know the optimal time to get their influenza injection to keep them well protected throughout the long season.
An article on WebMD tells us, “According to the CDC, about 5 percent to 20 percent of Americans get the flu each year. More than 200,000 people are hospitalized, and about 36,000 people die.”
To make sure you do not become one of these statistics, make sure you get your flu shot this year, and every year.
When should you get a flu shot?
“The best time to get a flu shot is in October or November. You can still get an influenza vaccine in December or later, but earlier may be more beneficial in preventing flu,” according to WebMD.
Many clinics and locations give seniors the flu shots at no charge. Do not use finances as an excuse – take the time, get in line, and and get the protection you need to keep yourself healthy.
What do you think? Are flu shots really necessary? Will you get your shot this year?
