The effective ways to lose belly fat differs for both men and women. It is not uncommon for men to have belly fat deposits due to their many wrong habits such as stressful routines, skipping meals, and sticking to the office desk for most of the time. However, unlike women, men with high belly fat are at a greater risk of developing a number of diseases such as stroke, insulin resistance, and sleep apnea than women.
This is because men are more likely to gain fat deposits in and around their belly than women, for which there is no perfect time or age. That is why it is essential to lose belly fat for men irrespective of the age. So, here are some of the effective ways to lose belly fat for men of all ages.
Start by overcoming the inactive lifestyle with cardiovascular or aerobic exercises
Daily brisk walking, running, mountain biking, climbing stairs, boxing, and swimming are a few exercises for the beginners to start getting active so that the fat deposits begin to shed. The most important factor here is high intensity or speed coupled with less duration, for instance, walking 100 steps in just 3 minutes. Such a fast approach helps in burning overall body fat to keep the body toned and slim. Exercising vigorously for an hour on a daily basis makes your body burn 1 lb. of fat in just a week. For men of older ages, a low intensity walk or jog is just fine.
Cut down the intake of sugary and junk foods
Did you know that replacing a pack of chips with just a bowl of berries or an apple can make you consume 700 calories less? That is why the intake of processed or junk foods must be totally stopped. Instead replace them with healthy whole grain foods. Similarly, drink plain water instead of sweetened sodas, packaged smoothies, syrupy coffee drinks, and juice drinks.
Avoid hard drinks
Alcohol is one of the major culprits for bloated belly, as it makes the body to hold water in the belly. Therefore, it is essential for men to cut down the number of drinks per day. If you cannot avoid completely, do not consume more than one glass a day.
Encourage the intake of good fats and protein
Good fats such as monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats are really worthy to have, for losing belly fat in men. So, replace the cooking oil with safflower, olive, or sunflower oil, which is healthy even for heart. The good fats certainly impede the process of storing the bad fats in the body, especially in the belly as well as speed up fat burning. Similarly, it is better to increase the intake of proteins for boosting metabolism to speed up the burning of surplus fats.
Go for Strength Training
This kind of exercise stimulates your metabolism to work throughout the day owing to the boosted muscle tissue. Choose weight lifting thrice a week for losing the overall body fat. However, for elderly men, it is recommended to do so only after consulting the doctor.
These are some of the effective ways to lose belly fat without investing much money at any point of time. Remember, these ways will not bring instant results to you. Constant dedication and regular practice are required for experiencing the desired results.

Thank you for sharing these helpful tips. You’ve given some great advice, and I honestly think that it would be a good idea for all of us, not just older men, to follow them. It seems like more and more lately the obesity rate has gone up so high. People don’t realize that when you weigh that much, your risk of getting sick gets so much higher! We need to take care of ourselves now, not necessarily when we get a certain age.
When I was younger, I was a ridiculously picky eater. I didn’t eat hardly anything that my parents gave me, and the other half of the time I pretended to eat it and shoved it down the toilet when they weren’t looking. (They learned to check the trash can.) In my older years, I’ve learned how to open up my options, and I’ve actually become quite the health nut. It’s amazing what eating good food can do for your body. I highly recommend it! Thanks again for sharing.
